"No other gem is prized for its mysterious beauty, a radiance that changes hue with the flick of a finger or a simple turn of the head. Opals dazzle the viewer with a shimmering life of their own." (Connoisseur, January 1985)

All natural creations vary on a molecular basis. In opal, these variations result in the different colors and patterns visible to the unaided eye giving each opal it's own unique personality. When fine jewelry is crafted around an opal it truly makes a genuine, one of a kind piece.

Three are three separate varieties of Australian opal: the Lightning Ridge black opal, the Queensland Boulder black opal and the white or light opal. White opal, the most recognized variety emits more pastel colors from a white or light background while the rarer and more exotic black opal varieties emit more vivid colors from a dark or black background. As a result of unique geologic circumstances, the Australian opal fields produce the most beautiful and durable opals available.

Opal's durability is an issue that has aroused controversy in the jewelry industry. Any gem, including diamond can be damaged or broken and the simple truth is that when set into properly made jewelry the lasting durability of Australian opal equals that of most gemstones. With simple care and maintenance opal and other fine jewelry will stay beautiful and valuable for generations.
